Alexandroff Ragtime Band (ARB) was formed during the summer of 1986 by Roumen “Fats” Alexandroff, banjo. ARB brought together a group of musicians from Sofia with strong interest in traditional jazz music – ragtime, blues, dixieland. The band was initially formed as a trio with clarinet, banjo and tuba but it is working as an open system which accepts other instrumentalists – piano, trumpet, trombone, saxophone. The only unbreakable rule is the absence of drums.
Since its creation ARB took part in almost all the jazz festivals in Bulgaria: Sofia, Sopot, Plovdiv, Ruse, Gabrovo, Stara Zagora, Teteven, Bansko, Burgas and more…
At Plovdiv Jazz Fest we will hear Desislava Tileva (vocals), Stoycho Radnev (trumpet), Neviliyan Gemijev (clarinet), Roumen Alexandroff (banjo), Dimitar Uzunov (tuba).
