The band Funkallero
is created in 2011 by the pianist and composer Vasil Spasov, a graduate of Berklee College of Music. He gathered some of the most remarkable improvisators in an unique project. The name of the ensemble comes from the Bill Evans composition of the same name and stands as a tribute to his musical heritage. Dimitar Liolev, Miroslav Ivanov, Radoslav Slavchev-Riverman and Georgi Markov come together around the themes of Vasil Spasov and build an intriguing style that weaves memorable melodies with polyrhythms and groove. In 2015 their first album is released. Funkallero
has participated in the festivals Brazobrazie, Spirit of Burgas, Rousse Jazz Fest, A to Jazz and many others.
In 2019 their second album, Sci-funk, is released, depending on massive groove, modern harmonic language and improvisations.
